About us

Tourism Association North Yorkshire

Tourism is a well-established industry in Yorkshire. It is the largest employer and a vital part of the local economy. It is a very fragmented group of diverse businesses, large and small.

There are many issues, problems and opportunities that by working together we can:

  • Market the area and ourselves effectively
  • Strengthen links with Ryedale District Council
  • Have an effective opinion on local and national issues
  • Obtain reduced cost services and products
  • Evaluate the effect of changes in legislation and provide advice and guidance
  • Lobby for legislation changes
  • Use our collective strength to ensure that our opinions are heard
  • Raise and maintain the standards of quality in the provision of services and facilities to visitors
  • Reduce the cost of advertising by collective purchasing
  • Organise forums and training sessions on relevant subjects

Membership exceeds 300 local operators ranging from the largest multi-million attraction to the smallest B&B. A diverse and dynamic mix of like-minded people whose quality of life depends on the success (or otherwise) of their business.
